Many men are looking for more than breaking a good sweat when they exercise. They want to bulk up and appear to be in great shape. For men, it seems that being in good shape is equivalent to looking good at the beach and having that killer six pack.

If that is what you are going for, it takes more than 20 minutes a day, three times a week. People who have great bodies will tell you to switch up your routine monthly. You have to continually be “shocking” your body with new exercises. A good rule of thumb is that if you are not sore the next day, it probably was not that great of an exercise session, and you should look into a new technique or heavier weights.

In addition, eating healthy usually does not naturally result in bulking up. You have to constantly taking in more calories than you are expending. Also, it is not just purely calories that matter. Calories from fat do not count nearly as much as those composed of proteins.

Invest in a large container of protein and have a few servings a day in addition to your normal diet. You can add it to milk, your cooking, or oatmeal. Just make sure you have some immediately following your workouts.
